The Garden House Gallery has been home to the permanent collection and working gallery of Mary-Dawn for 30 years.

My reasons for painting are not unique. Painting is central to the person I am and my emotional well-being. Just as a singer needs to sing and a dancer needs to dance, I am happiest when painting.

On June 10th 2023, I was inducted into the prestigious Society of Canadian Artists at the Arts and Letters club in Toronto, after my work was juried by judges from five Canadian regions. Few artists each year receive an invitation to become a member and receive the right to use the designation SCA and I am honoured to be recognized in this way.

I am proud to share that one of my paintings, Reflection of a Red River Queen, was selected to be displayed in the highly anticipated 2023 Elected Members Exhibition in Montreal. Held at the historic Carre des Artistes gallery from September 16 to October 7, this showcase presents the masterpieces of 50 of Canada's most distinguished Elected Members. This exhibition beckons art enthusiasts, fellow artists, and the general public alike to experience the richness of Canadian culture and creativity.

ARTWORK

From the private and public gardens of southern Ontario to the Trent Severn waterway near Georgian Bay, over the years I have painted any subject matter that speaks to me on an artistic and personal level.

Take me where there are flowers, gardens and water in any form.
Rushing, tumbling or silently glistening.
Show me a pine tree curving and swaying, swooping and dancing with the sky.
Let me see the fascinating shapes and velvety presence of a flower.
I am at home now.
