Surrender to the Sunset
The oppressively hot summer of 2016 witnessed the birth of this painting. Considering the heat at the cottage, I wondered if my body and spirit could mount the effort to begin a 48" by 24" piece. But, armed with my fan cooling my feet I began drawing then the undercoat of the upper levels of the sky. I cherish this inspirational experience with my subject, canvas and brushes. I might have missed it had I given up in the environment. Since creativity is a master of its' own self, the more an artist can be actively working when creativity voices itself strongly, the better we can capture those days of insight. I went from the oppression of the weather to the heavenly passion of the skies.
